Images of the Aurora Borealis

June has brought the confluence of no moon and clear skies to Western Washington. The last two nights have been wonderful!

There were three people signed up for my Night Sky Photo Tour on Saturday night and we drove to the Washington Pass Overlook, on the North Cascades Highway, to capture images of Liberty Bell above the loop in the road. Liberty_Bell_Milky_Way

I spent most of my time advising all on exposure and composition, and after a bit I turned to face north to get images down the valley and was surprised to see the pink glow in this image. To the naked eye there was no glow at all. The colors only showed up on camera. Everyone rushed over to see and we all got excited capturing images to the north. Everyone got the same fantastic glow. After posting and consulting others it seems that the glow is from the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. How cool is that!

  1. I was wondering if you would be willing to let me use one of your photos for my website. Your photos are amazing, and portray exactly the tranquility I want to present to my customer. If not I understand and thank you for your time and consideration.

I would like to use your Aurora Borealis photo on my website. Can I get permission to do this from you, or if necessary purchase the picture?

Hope to hear from you soon!
