Perseid Meteor Shower 2015

Last night was my first attempt at capturing the meteor shower. The weather here has been…unsettled. Each day the forecast changes so you never know what you’ll get. Yesterday evening as we left to head up the North Cascades Highway towards the Diablo Overlook I was sure that the trip would be a waste of time.

The skies were cloudy and hazy, it had been raining earlier and the prospects for clear skies few.

We arrived with the twilight. Still doubtful of clear skies I thought to just capture what came my way.

Here is a shot of Diablo Lake with the first shooting star of the night!

I circled the lookout several times, composing a shot and then capturing that same image, over and over and over. Each shot 30 seconds…hoping to get lucky and see a huge meteor streak across the middle of the screen. Actually my dream was to see several huge meteors at once, from different angles, lighting up the sky…well once can always fantasize!

The Perseid Meteor Shower 2015 will be visible for the next few night. Find a spot away from the lights of civilization. Relax and enjoy the show!

I will be out again tonight and Saturday, trying to make my meteor fantasy come true….
