Nature Photography Class with Andy Porter

We live in one of the most amazingly beautiful areas, not only of Washington, or the USA, but of the entire world. Rugged glacier covered mountains, towering old-growth rain soaked forests, endless fields of tulips and a fantastically photogenic coastline, we have it all!
Nothing is more rewarding than immersing oneself in the Nature of Washington…except maybe capturing images of all that beauty to share.
Come join wilderness photographer Andy Porter as he takes you through a 4-hour crash course on nature photography. In his class he will discuss (and show) how to set your camera on manual, use of aperture to create depth and focus, composition basics and more tricks of the trade.

This 4-hour class will be offered once in May, and once in June on these dates:

• Saturday May 9th – 1pm to 5pm
• Saturday, June 6th – 1pm to 5pm

The cost of the class is $60.00 per person.

The class will include both classroom and outdoors training.

What you need to bring to class:
• Camera (DSLR or Point and Shoot are fine)
• Any lenses or filters you already have
• Hiking shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting wet or a little dirty!

Photography Composition and Basic Editing with Andy Porter

• Wednesday May 13th – 6pm to 9pm AND Wednesday, May 20th – 6pm to 9pm
  • The same class is also available in June!
• Wednesday June 10th – 6pm to 9pm AND Wednesday, June 17th – 6pm to 9pm

This two-day/six hour session photography class covers Image Composition and Photo Editing.
Day 1: Photo Composition. “Having an eye” for photography is definitely an acquired skill! Once you learn the basic tools and practice you’ll have it. We will cover: subject placement; use of the horizon; reflections; leading lines; the Rule of Thirds; framing and more. You’ll receive a photo assignment to complete before the next class.
Day 2: Together we’ll review your assignment images and then delve into how to edit your images on the computer, covering cropping, color adjustment, filters and all sorts of amazing stuff to make your images pop!

• Hiking shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting wet or a little dirty!

What you need to bring to class for Day Two:
• A lap top computer with either Photoshop or Lightroom (any versions)
OR
• A CD with images (both RAW and jpeg) that you like to see edited.
