The Cascade Loop Scenic Highway crosses the crest of the North Cascades not once but twice as it loops over and back. Highway 2 crosses the mountains at Stevens Pass and Highway 20, the North Cascades Highway, crosses at Washington Pass.

There are 9 distinct regions visited in the loop:

Snohomish River Valley:

  • Region 1: Everett, Mukilteo, Snohomish, Monroe
  • From the waters of the Puget Sound to the fertile farm valleys and the Cascade Mountains as a backdrop.

Stevens Pass:

  • Region 2: Sultan, Gold Bar, Index, Skykomish, Stevens Pass
  • Drive through lush forests and over 4,601 foot high Stevens Pass.

Cascade-Leavenworth Foothills:

  • Region 3: Cashmere, Leavenworth, Plain
  • Quaint Bavarian Village and an Early American town where the Cascades meet the Columbia River

Wenatchee-Columbia River Valley:

  • Acres of fruit orchards meet the banks of the Columbia River.

Lake Chelan:

  • Region 5: Chelan, Manson, Stehekin
  • This pristine, sunny 55 mile long lake cuts deep into the heart of the Cascade Mountains.

Methow Valley:

  • Region 6: Pateros, Carlton, Twisp, Winthrop, Mazama
  • The open ranges with a western frontier atmosphere.

North Cascades Highway and National Park:

  • Region 7: Diablo, Newhalem, Marblemount, Rockport, Concrete
  • High mountain peaks and spectacular views surround you.
