Night Sky Olympic Coast
Night Sky Olympic Coast
Night Sky Olympic Coast is not often clear. Clouds and rain are the norm. Each month when the new moon approaches I keep an eye on the weather along the coast, hoping for clear skies in the forecast.
January’s New Moon brought a short window of cloudless skies and I headed over to the Olympic Peninsula.
I arrived at the ferry terminal in Coupeville at 6:30am. The darkness was complete, but I grabbed my equipment and headed out to a jetty to see if I could get a star shot or two while waiting for the boat.
I set a 20 second exposure and much to my surprise the image was filled with color.
These three images are from First Beach.
I am not sure if this tree trunk qualifies as driftwood, it was so big and magnificent.
It was a magnet for me the entire evening.
